Why does this partial underline appear below text?

Under NES 2x and under my link to AVGN.  I never attempted to underline NES, but I did add an underline to AVGN.

When I go and try to fix it, something seems to keep putting it back.  I'll delete the letters NES, then retype them and they become underlined.  I remove the underline and everything looks fine, but when I save the post again, the dots are back.

It’s a function of the forum, it does that and I think on desktop browsers if you hover over it, it tells you what the abbreviation is. Does nothing for me on mobile at least not that I am aware

This. We have a handful of words in a dictionary that get underlined like that any time anyone says them, so if you don't know what an AVGN is you can hover the word to get some help text.
