FT - A 'paperclip' shaped like a Mario coin.

It's back, and just as mediocre as ever: The Paperclip Tradeup

For those that don't know or remember, back in August 2016 I started a trade up thread on the old site, starting with a video game themed "paperclip". By the time it ended a year or so later, the final result was worth ~$150 (closer to $250 in today's values) and was a pretty great success. Luckily I archived all that before NA was taken down, so anyone curious can check out the details and specifics here.

But anyways, now that I'm a functioning adult with a career and all I've been able to afford get back into game collecting lately, and I've been getting pretty nostalgic thinking back on this little journey I had nearly a decade ago at this point. One of the items I ended with was actually an Atari hat that I wore pretty much every day throughout college, so this was definitely one of the best memories I have of my early game collecting. I figured I'd finally give this another shot! It gives me a fun excuse to be on the forums again, and hey who knows maybe we'll end up with something great by the end of it.

Just like last time, I'm going to quickly set a few rough guidelines and goals so everyone else can enjoy the journey alongside me.

Guidelines:

  • Video game related trades only (joke offers are always welcomed).
  • Post offers in this tread, so everyone can enjoy the journey.
  • Shipping goes to anywhere in the U.S, but will consider international if the trade is really worth it.
  • Try to avoid random lots. Themed lots are fine, like a console with games for it or a few games from the same series, but last time the hardest things to trade were the completely random assortments where no one ever wanted everything in the lot.

Goals:

  • Anything worth more than a paperclip.
  • Break the $10 mark (with updated dollar goals as we go)
  • Trade up to a hand-held console
  • Trade up to a console
  • Trade up to an arcade cabinet/pinball machine
  • Stadium Events, because why not?
  • Home-Improvement for SNES, just for the sake of trading up to a "home".

And so, without further ado:

Trade #1: A 'paperclip' shaped like a Mario coin.

Beautiful, isn't it? And this custom made beauty can become a centerpiece of your collection for... well whatever, really. Like its predecessor this paperclip's functionality isn't all there, but it's masterwork design* more than makes up for this small little flaw. Only 3 of these limited series paperclips exist to date, making this an absolute must for any collector looking to go the full 100%. Who know, with 99 more you may even be able to earn an extra life, so you might as well start going for it now.
*The coin design is great, the paperclip itself if pretty much scrap metal.
