Inner-tube thrash over jam. Love that one

Free style over half pipe - both great

Aerials and high jump - no pref, played neither as both felt entirely broken. Correctly predicted mods would be wise enough to leave those events out

Downhill blitz over race. Both great, but blitz is my favorite event out of either of these carts. 

Snowball blast over joust big time, but that one is probably a lot of nostalgia. Favorite event as a kid because it was the most manageable. And it's an NES Snowball fight. What an awesome proposition that was done pretty well

Downhill Blitz is also my fav overall.  And Pool Joust was def my fav as a kid too.  I remember just mashing buttons on the Freestyle as a kid, having no clue what I was doing, but somehow I still enjoyed it quite a bit..

I meant that snowball blast was my favorite as a kid. Id rent that cart knowing that I wasn't great at most of it, but I could smoke some kids in the face with snowballs

I loved Pool Jousting.  That was just the coolest fuckin thing to me then.

Yeah, you're right. Usually I get quite a bit of enjoyment out of this kind of game, but this time around it just didn't happen. Might be because I was already in a bad state of mind from stress and a lack of sleep. Or maybe I'm just not feeling NES games right now.

But I was also struggling a bit with the controls. Just moving around with the skateboard felt rather awkward, which made the Jam and Race pretty difficult. I also couldn't figure out how to reliably do those kicks and punches to destroy the bottles on the side. During the Race it was also very difficult to get the jumping right. I tried jumping off that big ramp, but always fell flat on my face. So I relied on moving on the right side of the track to jump over the pond. So I was already missing a bunch of points there.

The Freestyle is the one discipline that I couldn't really figure out. I could pull off some of the easy stunts pretty reliably, but the big one that would award you with 2900 points only worked like once every 30 or 40 tries. I had trouble landing correctly once I was in the air.

Maybe if I gave it another chance some other time I might grow to like it.
