Recently acquired 80 or so multi-cart games and pirate carts, this is the first post made it through the NES for the needed!

When I was growing up and still a kid I remember my friends dad owning cartridges like the ones in picture that I include but he only had about six. He told me there are better ones than the ones that he had at that time. A few days ago I got a collection of games like those and now have all of these. The games in picture are the ones I am keeping I have another twenty I will figure out what to do with eventually, for the NES cartridges. The other are all mostly portable games for the 80 or so in total, I will post as I get time to check them all out next. I just thought someone might like to see a collective picture of my new NES games collection score besides official releases. The top row is my double variants, only one other double below!

First off, very nice find @Joyomofrobro . I really love seeing this type of stuff, and there is a ton of great cartridges there.

Secondly, thanks @Ferris Bueller for directing me to this (please check your inbox or email or something, I'm going to send your order finally this Friday and am sending two prototypes to go with).  Also reaching out to @CodysGameRoom just to point out that the multicarts are crappy thing is a myth. You can check out my analysis below, but it's something that I discovered when writing my most recent Family Bits book - the vast majority of the cartridges were more or less truthful with their contents, so if one doesn't enjoy early Famicom era games, that's more on them, rather than on the carts themselves 😉 Not looking to start a fight or anything, just trying to clear up a misconception that has been promulgated by twenty years' worth of internet nonsense.

Cartridge analysis:

Okay, so let's divide up the games by labeling them as 1 - 27, starting at the top left and just going down the rows.

1.  64 in 1 - Actual number of games: 53
2.  72 in 1 Cartridge Story - Actual number of games: 69
This one contains two Hwang Shinwei originals, Block Force and 3D Block (porno game)
3.  76 in 1 - Actual number of games: 76
4.  Image resolution is too low so I can't see the number clearly. If it's the 76 in 1 version, it's the same as game #3 and contains 76 games. If it's the 64 in 1 version, it contains 64 games. Both the original versions were likely done by Aaronix.
5.  110 in 1, has 93 games. Great cart.
6.  Not sure I saw this label or not, but it's likely the same as #5.
7.  150 in 1. Likely the same as the one in my book, though the labels are slightly different so I can't comment with certainty. If it's the same, this one contains only 38 different games, making it comparatively a dud.
8.  I've seen this cart label before, but never owned it. Likely contains 31 games, possibly the same as the Sane Ting cart or the other 31 in 1 I documented.
9.  No label, no idea.
10.  Not sure on this either.
11.  This one likely is the basis for the Action 52 NES game, and has fifty unique games.
12.  Could be anything, this sort of Supervision label was generic and used on both single and multicarts.
13.  See #2. Side note, the Cartridge Story carts (Famicom versions) command a premium compared to other Famicom multicarts, no idea about the NES ones though.
14.  See cartridge 12.
15.  I can't read the label for sure, but it looks like this is Cartridge Story Volume II. I actually don't own this one so I'm not 100% sure of the contents, but it should sit somewhere between the volume 1 (72 in 1) and volume III (90 in 1). Should contain some good Hwang Shinwei content.
16.  See cart 5.
17.  See cart 7.
18.  I've seen this before as well, it's considered somewhat iconic. Never owned one though, so again I can't say what's actually on it.
19.  650 in 1. Contains 89 unique games, including some stuff that doesn't appear as frequently such as Power Soccer, Onyanko Town, Solomon no Kagi, and Moai-kun. Doesn't contain anywhere near 650 games, but back in the day, these cartridges topped out generally just shy of 100, so I'd honestly consider this a great cart too.
20.  650 in 1, see above.
21.  No idea, maybe it's the notorious Golden / Powerful 250 in 1 by NTDEC with Arnie?
22.  Tengen's Tetris, looks to be the Whirlwind Manu one
23.  Bart vs the World. Not such a big deal as these are 72 pin carts, but the Famicom version of this is hard to find, and was never officially released on 60 pin format.
24.  After Burner. Japanese version of the game, this one is the Whirlwind Manu one.
25.  Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers - Should be the Japanese version. Is likely one of a couple variants. It might have the title screen intact and normal, or it might have the message "Good Luck!" added to the title screen, as well as the names "Gin / Chin". There are also some versions of Rescue Rangers with the title logo removed. It's likely one of these versions, and less likely to have the copyrights / title screen unaltered.
26.  Don't know the game, but I've seen these labels before with Batman and the Konami label. More Konami shadiness, hehe. It's really hard to say if these were completely unauthorized or not.
27.  Excitebike, this is the Whirlwind Manu version.
28.  Super Mario Bros. 3. This one is going to be the Japanese version. I'd venture a guess that this has the "item select" cheat built in it, accessible from the map screen. Title screen might be more or less intact, might be missing the logo, or it might have the logo replaced with a Chinese logo (not likely). Copyright data if remaining likely is credited to Nintendo, but there are some variants where it has been altered to credit other things.

Nice. I've got the 110 in 1 with the Pac-Man label, and basically the same Super Mario Bros. 3 cartridge (looks like yours is in better shape, though I got mine for free so I can't complain). And yes, it has the Japanese version.

I also remember getting a Famicom 64 in 1 from @fcgamer, though I'm not sure if it has the same games as yours (but I do know it's similar to the 110 in 1, with the same menu and a similar game selection).

I've got a second NES here that I can use to play it (it doesn't fit in my unmodified NES).

I also remember seeing a picture of a cart with those SuperVision labels on tsr's NES Archive in the early 2000's:

58 in 1, I have one of those. Iirc it's just the 52 in 1 with a few extra games, possibly trainer versions.

190 should be very good. Iirc it actually had the highest number of unique games from these types of carts.

42 in 1. I seem to remember there being possibly two different 42 in 1 carts, with the most common version having two menues, one for a 20 in 1 cartridge and the other for a 22 in 1 cartridge, with a variety of mechanisms used over the years to switch between the two.

Thanks for the picture of Cartridge Story II! Should be a lovely cartridge.

P.S. I know of maybe three or four different "powerful" cartridges by NTDEC, though I'm not sure how many of them were available with the text about Arabian Nights.

Wow a tsr reference, now that's a throwback to my era of things... tsr's, nes world, the warp pipe, and the epic daves video gaming classics. 🙂  The stuff that ended up flying around in the wild west of cart dumping and emulation was utterly fun, fantastic, and amazing on a daily basis.

I hope your really do enjoy the hell out of those carts, the multis give a lot of overlap, but they give also a lot of fun in one package.

Then again, singles can too.  I got a copy of a 'Street Fighter III' game here for example, it has the best of various hack versions of SF2 for the NES, shockingly works well, and has the roster, not just jank with 4 characters...hope yours is that.  Those random character looking carts, usually the top flap have a typwriter looking label to tell you what's in there.  I've got one, it's a more obscure Supervision 16in1 cart which has some better titles on it than the usual multicarts, not the usual NROM(no mapper) stuff, instead it is likeUNROM stuff, 128kb sized titles.  You can see the list here: https://bootleggames.fandom.com/wiki/Supervision_16-in-1

If you want something made in the last decade I can suggest a pair of utterly fantastic carts you can get off aliexpress, ebay, etsy that have many of the utterly over valued heavy priced titles on the NES rolled up into a little cart.

It is the same Street Fighter that you have I bet, I played it runs surprisingly well. I just collect the older carts. I got another one of these but it's games are re-arranged, picture!

I just love this cartridge because I live in Canada and it says Made In Canada. It's very unique a 40 In 1 cartridge, picture!

That's amazing! It reminds me of when I found a "Made in Indonesia" Famiclone and I kept it, since I never saw one before.

Wow love that Canada cart, just well not as much because of your reason for it being made locally, but the precise set of basics it has there.  That solid clean list of general early era titles have such a quality spread, even with the shorter list being doubled for like speed/pro hacks of the originals (which in hind sight is pretty smart), it's enough to keep busy for a long time.

That cart you showed me there with arnie is pretty nice.  NTDEC did some quality work on their bootlegs and also a nice quality FC-NES converter adapter too in the day as well.

The game I'm thinking of a modern one has a newer style PCB within which uses the CR2032 to back up some of those saving games (sadly like all still, one and done, open another with SRM your work is nuked.)  The one I have is in a FC shell and as such gets tagged as the Ultimate Famicom (or NES) Remix 1+2, and the menu has Robocop on it!

You can check the list here it's quite amazing what's there, it will save you thousands of dollars in quality titles that have gone nuts in the last dozen years sadly.  It also has some solid JP titles translated into english like Rockboard, Sweet Home, Final Fantasy II  & III, Mother and others.  NO lame duplicates either.  https://bootleggames.fandom.com/wiki/Ultimate_NES_Remix

MindKids also has a decade old (first of the coin cell backing games) usually tagged as the Super Games 500in1 both in FC and NES shells too (again have it with FC style, game with a FC Mobile 88 I got locally years ago.)  This one has an amazing array of older and newer titles but has an annoying 1/3 of them as sub-homebrew quality trash in the middle.

Yup, if it contains the US version then it's modern made.  Never seen a US boot of Mario 3 from back in the day, doesn't exist for many reasons.

@Joyomofrobro

New update.  I had a related topic I stepped into over on atariage, there's a new evolution of the multicart that only ONE vendor on aliexpress peddles so far and it's creeping into amazon at the moment too.  This is the 253in1 multicart and the link is at the bottom.  I'd paste an image of the game list but this site auto-shrinks stuff.

This cart is an evolution of two primary things.
1) NO battery save, uses an IC and it can store over two dozen separate save files meaning if you play Kirby, then Dragon Warrior IV the kirby file isn't wiped.
2) Many new demanding mappers/extended mappers are added. MMC2(Tyson), MMC5(CV3), MMC6(StarTropics1+2) from the US are present.  On the FC side the VRC chips up to 6 work so Gradius 2, Twinbee 3, Waiwai World 2, etc work.

The game list on this thing is nuts.  I've supplied a link to click so it doesn't get squashed.  The amount of games added that couldn't be supported before is quite big, and no repeats or cheap hacks either.  Some games in Japanese are english on it like Ys which is a nice bonus as is Mother(Earthbound.)  I'm going to order this one knowing it works due to the OP on AA, just not sure if I want to pay 1/2 and get it in 4 weeks or pay full and get it in 4 days. 😄
