ProtonX | 69
Sometimes a console can look so much better after just some cleaning. What do you use to clean consoles? Personally I use Zep Formula 50 RTU- it’s like a more powerful 409 along with knock off magic erasers. Here was what it did today- and yes I only cleaned 1/2 for the photo.
SNESNESCUBE64 | 536
I use alcohol and simple green for everything consoles. Basically I just go "oonga boonga" on it with cleaner until it is acceptable to me. For arcade cabinets I take different approaches. Lots more "fun" stuff with that. My super punchout was a good example of this, it had mice problems! Gloves and mask are required for this kind of stuff. For cabinet interior, I use Scrub n Bubbles + a scrub brush after running a shop vac. It won't damage the wood and it good at disinfecting and removiny odors. I am unsure how this effects paint, I used simple green for the exterior as it won't destroy the artwork or exterior gel coat. Everyone cleans the PCBs differently, but what I do is wash it with distilled water, scrub with simple green, then rinse with distilled water again. MrWunderful | 2,927
Dish soap and water for almost everything, including boards. If its water sensitive I spray with alcohol to let dry. White polymer erasers are my new go to, you can erase adhesive from labels and carts with no damage.
RH | 4,902
Anyone ever figured out a good way to clean grime off of rubbery analog joysticks? For instance, something like the Dreamcast controller? I have a couple of controllers I need to clean up and I can take care of most of the parts, but the rubberized sticks need something that will clean them but not break them down. I'm afraid the alcohol will destroy them and oil-based cleaners don't seem right either.

Typically with anything I need to be careful with I throw them in my ultrasonic with a little dish soap, then clean them up with an electric toothbrush after.
