Know of Any Bomberman Variants?

Recommended Posts

I'm doing some research on variants for any and all North American Bomberman games. Anything from NES to Switch, I want it all. Bomberman titles that aren't Bomberman titles are also welcome (i.e. Panic Bomber and Atomic Punk). Cover variants, sticker on the seal, USA-1 revision, UPC changed, I don't care how minor it is, just let me know what you have.

What I currently have:

Title Console Variance
Bomberman NES Oval SOQ
Super Bomberman SNES Party Pack
Super Bomberman 2 SNES USA-1 cart and manual
Wario Blast Game Boy French Canadian
Bomberman GB Game Boy USA-1 manual
Mega Bomberman Genesis Mega Hit Series
Bomberman: Party Edition PlayStation UPC Correction Sticker
Bomberman (2005) DS French Canadian
Bomberman Land Touch 2 DS USA-1 cartridge. Manual and case are not revised.
Bomberman Land Wii French Canadian
Super Bomberman R Switch 33rd anniversary emblem removed

Thanks!

There's definitely a USA-1 cartridge and manual for Wario Blast, but I didn't see a single non-USA-1 cartridge on eBay.
I did find a Canadian cartridge, though:

If you have boxes for either of these, please share some images.

Please check the inside tab on your Bomberman GB box as well, there may be a USA-1 out there.

Other than that, I've found:

  • Bomberman (Nintendo DS) has a French Canadian release
  • Bomberman Land Touch 2 has a USA-1 cartridge with an unrevised box and manual
  • Bomberman Land (Wii) has a French Canadian release

Yeah that's one of the small box variants. This is the other one, but it has a mismatched manual pictured and other inserts that didn't really come with it. Hudson edited the manual down for the small box reprint without the multitap

@DoctorEncore Thanks for the shoutout.

@Code Monkey is correct. There are no known variants for Bomberman II, and Bomberman comes in Circle and Oval™ variants. It's possible that there is an Oval® out there printed along side Bomberman II (somewhat common practice to reprint older versions of a game when a new one comes out) but I've yet to see one in the past two years it's been on my radar.

So in summary:

Bomberman

  • Circle Seal (R3 - Common)
  • Oval™ Seal (R5 - Uncommon)
  • Oval® Seal (RX - Theoretical)

Bomberman II

  • Oval® Seal (R7 - Rare)

Before I get any hate for posting it as an R7, let me just say that any R6, R7, and R8 in my eyes are all basically the same thing with just the "hype" factor taking over elevating some of them higher, with only R9 and R10 becoming actual rare and unique things again....though even R9 can tap into the hype factor. Little Samson for example has such a high hype factor that it pushes it into R9 territory.
