We've already started working on the July issue of Mali's Cash, and we are stoked! ------------------------------- OLD STUFF ------------------------------------- It all started back in February. I was riding the inner-city train down towards the main station, to link up and head out towards @OptOut's neck of the woods. I was lost in my own thoughts, staring out the window at the rice fields as the cityscape quickly faded behind me. Occasionally I'd glance down at my phone, and eventually I saw a message from a buddy of mine in Buffalo, "If anyone can do it, it's you." That solidified things, and Mali's Cash was born! The Pitch: Mali's Cash is a retro game-themed gaming magazine. The magazine is in full-color, and the focus is on homebrew games, though there are also some articles on bootleg games (our first issue will include a feature on the "extended" Mario series, for example). There will also be some historical and collector-focused articles in each issue. The Content: Gaming: Every issue will contain content similar to the following: -Reviews / previews for two to three homebrew games -One article from a section "Homebrew History"* -One or two features on unlicensed / bootleg games, or in lieu of one of these articles, an article that is more collecting oriented -Horoscopes presented by Sachen Culture: In addition to the gaming points, we have some cultural bits featured about Asia and Taiwan. -Local restaurant review (one per issue) -Beer and coffee review -one or two culture articles -Interviews Other: Finally, sort of bridging the gap between the gaming and culture points, will be a few other articles. The first issue will contain an article about a Pokemon-themed 7-11 in Taiwan, for example, and it will also feature some of the exclusive swag we get here such as the Pokemon Traveler displays. Also in the magazine will be some shop ads where you can order some game hacks, exclusive chiptune albums, etc. The Extras: No magazine would be complete without some fun extras, and the team behind Mali's Cash is all for that! Have a chance to win a free homebrew or better yet, design part of one! Get some stickers and cool posters! Who knows, this magazine is strictly about fun, and we genuinely look forward to giving back to our readers and the community. Also, the TV Game Foundation Formosa will be writing articles about classic gaming, beginning sometime this summer. Some of the articles will be available for free, and others will be behind a paywall. I am looking to see about giving Mali's Cash buyers either a discount or complete access to these articles. FC Game Land | Exploring the Odd Games of Yesteryear (wordpress.com) If you enjoyed the content from my old (now defunct) blog, then you'll be interested in the articles that we're doing with the TV Game Foundation Formosa. The Stats: -35 to 45 pages per each volume (to be decided, as we are still finishing up a couple articles for Issue 1 and are trying to make this as cost-efficient as possible -New issue every month -Perfect binding, to keep the magazine good for years to come Stay Updated: If this magazine sounds interesting to you, feel free to send me a DM with your email address, and I'll then put you on a special Mali's Cash mailing list, which will keep you updated on the magazine. If you have any questions, feel free to post in this thread, and I'll try to answer the, Mali's Cash is coming to everyone THIS JUNE!!! fcgamer 3,279 Member ·
Mali's Cash is coming this June! I just had a proof of concept printed today at lunchtime, which I used to take these pictures, but the actual magazine will use perfect binding, be cut properly, etc.

I should have the price point figured out by the end of the weekend. I'm striving for around $8 + shipping of $6, for total of $14, maximum, though if I can get the price down to about $12 total (magazine + shipping included) that's what I'd prefer. Like I said in the earlier post though, I also plan to give access to the library of (paid) online articles I plan to do as a bonus for those who order the magazine, though I am still looking into how to make this a reality.

It was a lot of fun putting this together, I hope you enjoy it. The next volume is already in the works, and it is exciting. I'm particularly stoked about the Homebrew History section of the magazine, as I remember back when this stuff had occurred, as I was following back in 1999 or so already. I was even on the list for the Garage Cart but backed out, oh how stupid I was then! Anyways, I'll DM you later, as I mentioned above, I am personally going to send out a small gift for everyone on here who purchases the first issue

matthughson 98 Member ·
Oh wow not sure how I missed this. Looks cool @fcgamer! Not sure if you looked at it at all but https://www.magcloud.com/ is a pretty nice alternative to Amazon if you have others asking about it. It's free to just put your stuff up there, and you don't pay anything (they have a fixed cost per mag, and you add your fee on top of that).

Thanks mate for the suggestion; I looked into it, but it seems they don't allow anything grey area such as game hacks or soft core 8 bit tits, so I think it'll be impossible for me.
