From the Merchandisers Manual, Dec 1987:

WALMART M82 DISPLAYS

Nearly 700 Walmart stores nationwide are being shipped the new version interactive display, the NES M82. This display is pictured in your NMI Manual in the Display Information section. Please assist the Walmart stores in your territory in setting up this new display, following the instructions included in the display shipping carton.

Although this display is designed to allow game pak changes in the field, YOU ARE NOT TO CHANGE THE GAME PAK CONFIGURATIONS IN NES M82 DISPLAY UNLESS SPECIFICALLY INSTRUCTED TO DO SO BY NINTENDO. Should a store request game pak changes, you should advise them that you are not able to make these changes at this time. All displays are being shipped with a customized game pak mix requested by the account Buyer.

A repair manual for the M82 is in the works and will be forwarded to you shortly after the first of the year. Please note that the M82 has a highly advanced circuit system, and as such requires extra case. This display is also quite valuable (cost $450.00), so if you see these displays in back rooms you should as the store if you can help to set it up.

Please contact Anne Smith or Susan Sigel at NMI headquarters with any M82 display questions or problems which may arise.

M82 Field Test instructions - people had to note which games were in each slot, if the timer was working, and do a shock test which was hitting the box and listening for loose parts

M82 Service Manual - shows how to open, replace controllers, and plug in timer harness. Official star screwdriver bit included, people actually had to sign off saying this bit is property of NOA
