PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES

…OR PII THROWS A FEW LIRA INTO THE SPACE FOUNTAIN

I’ve seen this a couple of times before but it’s been a while and so

everything was pretty fresh.  One of the first things that got me

laughing pretty good was just the sound effect when the space ship

lands.  A short while later after the first scene outside the ship it cuts

back to the interior.  Everyone is just sitting around.  No one is saying

anything or moving a muscle and Mark is like: “Alright!, alright!,

Quiet down, quiet down, let’s all try to stay calm and figure out what happened.”

Laugh city for me.  Then I noticed he keeps calling everyone

by their first names which are mostly very common eg. Brad and it

feels more like they should all be unpacking their camper and setting

up a tent.  I kept expecting the captain to veer into “Captain Hazel Murphy

Territory”, ala SeaLab 2021 and be like: “Braaa-aaad, I said take control,

not empty the garbage shoot; I think I left my easy bake oven in there!”

Alien, A Nightmare On Elm Street and Star Trek Episode: Demon, which

had a sequel in “Course: Oblivion” are all subsequent motion pictures

that I think of when watching this; and of course “Queen Of Blood” which

came out the following year.

At any rate there’s ultimately enough of a plot and not much in the way

of character development but it’s a real treat for the eyes and ears.
