So I tried once again to put in the option to save whenever the user wants to by pressing the Select button. I worked on it, went to sleep, woke up, worked on it some more and I think I finally have it so all the screens I have so far work. I had to change the igloo screen's goal since it wasn't working. Gamegearguy in Game Boy


So I made a screen with a fire flower coming out of a block with a giant question mark on it. In Super Mario Bros. this is a common occurrence, but I don't know ahout other games. When you fly in the screen, you are in a race with a moth to see who gets it first. If you get to the fire flower first, you can just press A to shoot a fireball to melt an ice block and continue on. I changed the font. I didn't like the one I had in there. I replaced the not working spider web screen with a couple of new ones. One has Frank dodging a bee. I had to get rid of the spider web screen. I worked on the game all last night. I got bank 1's compiling time from around 2-3 minutes down to 35 seconds or so. And I fixed some other things as well. So I am calling level 3 finished. After I transformed it from a glitchy mess into something that looks halfway decent. It took about 3 or 4 days of work to complete the level, but I did it. The blocks travel horizontally. Your job is to get to the other side by hopping on the blocks. It's a lot like the part with the logs (the upper part of the screen) in Frogger. I made five blocks appear "randomly" on the screen. I'm going to try to have Mr. Celery jump on each block and go up. Once he reaches the top, he'll be at the bottom again. He'll need to travel ten screens to complete the level. If Mr. Celery ends up in the water, he'll lose a life and begin again at the bottom. Or else he'll get a point. After getting some feedback about how the game played, I decided to make some changes to level 2. Here is what it looks like now. The lasers will shoot in the middle of the top, and at the sides and will sometimes be below. What the celery is doing in a spaceship shaped like a banana is anyone's guess, and the fact that the blockers look like stalks of celery isn't exactly helping his cause, but I need them to be green because there is no color left. Today's work was making the game fair. This means that all four lasers have to shoot the same distance. This proved hard to do since I had to move the blockers a lot. I finally got it working after all day working on this. It also means that the blocker has to be directly on top or right below the ship in the middle with no space between them. Level 1. The beginning of a new video game. This is the first level for "adventures of the stalk of celery." I dropped the "50-foot-tall" part of the name. I got back into the Channel F again. I had to hook it up to my VCR and then to the TV instead of bypassing the VCR to get a stable, colored picture on the thing. And that's not all. So I've been busy composing little tunes for the background music for different levels. Each level will have its own song. For level 3, the snow level, for example, it will play my attempt at transcribing Winter Wonderland. Black and white burgers

So I got some help on my Game Boy version of Hamburgers En Route To Switzerland. It now works again. I originally made it not work after attempting to add a boss screen where you shoot at the boss. I had to change the background from light gray to white. I had to turn off the display for a few frames, and I made it white to make it look less shocking and more smooth when the boss milkshake disappears. Sad, because I liked the way it was, but oh well. One thing I wanted to do was change the name of the game. I wanted it to be shorter. "Hamburgers En Route To Switzerland: Zurich In Reach" is quite a mouthful (no pun intended.) So I made it simpler. I think the title screen hamburger looks much better now. It should, since it is in lovely 4 bit color. And my name is in lowercase letters for a reason: To save space.
